I don't speak as a baller here, but you need to think about why you're getting into marketing. If you're just doing it because you want to get rich and live the easy life, I'd encourage you to rethink your choice.
Despite what is put out there by gurus, marketing (especially internet marketing) isn't easy. Like any real business, there are skills you have to develop, connections you have to make, and concepts you have to understand. Simply: this shit has to interest you beyond the money aspect.
The dudes that I know who have totally balled out in life haven't succeeded because they were chasing money or a pipe dream about easy street, they've had tremendous success because they've picked things they're interested in, immersed themselves in the topic completely, and come out the other end with a complete understanding of their industry. They live, eat, breathe that shit. The money, while nice, is just a recognition of their skill and desire.
If you're passionate about a topic (and, yes, there are people who are truly passionate about marketing / internet marketing), then there is no concept of it all being "worth it." It's worth it because you're spending your time doing something you're interested in while further honing your skills. There are lots of people in internet marketing who got in because it was easy street for a little while. Most of them are gone now. Either they couldn't keep up when things got more competitive or they moved on to other ventures.
-My 2 cents.
