Due to the wealth of information and advice I’ve received on here, I’m feeling generous. I’m offering to give a few noobs a helping hand into the industry by providing them with the basics to get started.

Often it’s lack of action that holds us back, and a fear of venturing out into the unknown. I’ve spent a long time reading forums and blogs, and as much as it has taught me a lot, nothing is teaching me more than getting out there and doing the work.

This offer is open to noobs only, people who aren’t yet successful and need help to do the basics such as setting up cPanel, DNS, Wordpress etc.

I am offering to set you up with your first site, and give you that little shove in the right direction. I will provide you with hosting on my VPS, a domain name, and an installation of Wordpress with all the usual plugins.

I will also be available via email to answer any questions you might have, or at least help you word them in such a way so that when you ask on WickedFire, your balls are left intact.

This offer will be made available to the first 5 noobs that indicate their interest by posting in this thread.

In case I didn’t make it clear, this is a free service being provided by me personally for noobs only.

What’s the Catch?

Yes, there is a catch. If you take up this offer you agree to allow me to update this thread on your progress, and generally treat this as a case study for other people to learn from.

And one more thing. You will work your ass off. I will not accept slacking off or “I’m a bit busy right now to be updating my site”. I want to help people who are serious about this, that treat internet marketing as a real business.

If you do not put the effort in or drop out, I will hold the right to keep the site and develop/sell it as I see fit. For those of you that understand the concept of hard work, I’ll be more than happy to transfer the domain over to you.

Any questions, just ask. It's a bit of a no-brainer though - free domain, free hosting, free help. Christmas came early this year.

Do I own the domain and the site, or can you take it if you feel like it?

I would like to try a couple of sites...since I am a noob

Technically I will own the domain, but that is just an insurance policy for me. Imagine if I said I'd register your domain, and then transfer over to you straight away? What hold would I have over you to make sure you were committed? There's charity, and then there's me being a dumbass :)

I've put your name down writtenstyle, it's one site per person though.

Not really my place to comment in and hope this does not take anything away from your offer, but if you are just starting out you really have a good opportunity to get going here.

Last year when I was blogging I bought hosting packages for 10 readers and two of those readers make a fulltime living online. I talk to both of them nearly everyday. Had they not had that initial push, who knows where they would be now.

Also, do I some coaching with this? The MOD said two of his guys were now making full time money doing this. Can you offer guidance to make this happen?

writtenstyle, unless DBWebDev wants to be known as the biggest douche in the universe, I'm sure he won't be stealing your site once it becomes profitable.
 
DB, Make sure you put an "If you irritate the fuck out of me I never have to talk to you again clause" in there. :D
 
If the site becomes profitsble coz of ur efforsts am sure u will know the keywords "you" concentrated on. Go n buy another domains, sprinkle those keywords all across the place, build quick links n compete with "him".
 
I need to clarify something here guys, this offer is available to complete noobs who need some help getting started doing the basics.

I'm sorry if I haven't made this clear enough yet. My issue here is that I want to be able to bring something of value and I cannot do that with people who have the same skills as me (technical or otherwise).

Having looked at your own site writtenstyle, I see that you already have your own blog. Do you think you would benefit from having someone show you the basics of setting up a blog? If so I'm more than happy to take you on.

No, I will not steal your site. Also, "the MOD" (Ruck) said that 2 of his guys were making a full time income, that's reallly great. However, I'm not giving you any guarentees that that will happen. What I will say is that how hard you work will determine how much money you make.

As far as offering guidance to "make this happen", I'm sorry. I'm not a guru, I don't make lame promises about online riches. But I will do my best.

filthy123, after looking at your posts I see that you are experienced with cPanel, already have a hosting account, and already have your own blog. While I admit that you do still need some guidance, I'm not sure that it's me that you need it from. What do you think?

My first post on WF, so Hi to everyone and thanks for all the great info I've picked up here. This forum is awesome. I'd love to be part of your case study as I need to jump in somewhere. Looks like I'm 6 or 7, but if you have room for one more I will work my ass off for ya.
 
David, I'd like to be in. So how many people are going to be a part of this case study? When are you kick starting it? Do we choose our own niche? or you'd give one to everyone ?

To all those who didn't make it, perhaps there'll be another chance at some point in the future, we'll see.

Right guys, here is what I'm suggesting...

...that each of you pick a topic you have some interest in, ideally you'll be really passionate about it. Then you pick a domain name that suits (I'll veto it for you to make sure) and go onto make a "site".

You can do whatever you like within the confines of Wordpress, which I think is pretty much anything. However, I'm suggesting that you stick to blogging for now as that's the easiest thing to get started with.

I'm open to other suggestions if you like, but this is what I have in mind. So your first task is to pick a niche/topic, and then go away and think of a domain name. Use www.bustaname.com to help with that.

Also, if you could all contact me with your preferred contact email address so that we can talk individually.
