I'm guessing there's tea party people here. And that's cool but I have to ask you if you seriously think your party will end up any differently than every other party? Don't you see the pieces of shit politicians are already pushing their way to the front of the line begging to be elected by you so they can stomp on your freedom and dreams like every other politician?
They're all just power-hungry.. and will say whatever they need to say to become the new elites.
The Libertarian and Tea Party were the ones I felt I had the most in common with.
I went to the 828 rally thinking maybe I would meet people with similar ideas. I was way way off unfortunately.
All conversations I heard were basically just repeating things people heard on TV or radio, I know there had to be some people with their own original ideas somewhere in the crowd, but I didnt come across any. It was disappointing to me.
The Tea Party seems to be transforming into a new republican party, same ideas and policies. I heard people talking about immigration, falling right into the stereotypes the mainstream media painted them into. "mexicans are taking OUR jobs!", "im here legally, they should be too!"
These same people wouldnt know how to answer questions like "have you actually applied for a job an illegal mexican got that you didnt?", or, "would you really want to work for someone who would take advantage of someone else by paying wages impossible to live off of?"
Dont get me started on gay marraige opposition. You are either for liberty or your not, you cant pick and choose who you want to give rights to.
Whole lot of "impeach Obama" people, who just ignorantly think the source of a problem is concentrated to a single indivual.
After the rally I reached my own conclusion that I will not associate with any political party unless that political party requires a littmans test.
It was nice to see so many people come to an event to stand for something, but most these people didnt even seem to understand the point of the event.
A big point of the speeches was about self-empowerment/self-reliance, and everyone was cheering, but as soon as the speech was over, they went right back to their thinking that Obama was causing all their grief, and that Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin were going to make everything better for them.
So to get back on topic: Do I seriously think the Tea Party is going to change anything? No, its already been corrupted all to hell.
And Tea Party 2.0 wouldnt change anything either, nothing will change until new political parties begin to focus on quality of membership over quantity.
Most people are just seeking someone to follow, whether or not they agree with them completely.
Also, everything I said about the Tea Party could very easily be said about any political party. Thats what disappointed me most, I thought maybe they were different.
