I've been considering setting up a few lp's and collecting leads for a particular construction niche that is booming locally. I've got a few issues holding me back though. I'm sure dozens of you have done or are currently doing this so I figured I might be able to squeeze some details out of ya.

- How do you know whether or not the deal took place?
- If it did, how do you go about billing the contractor?
- How do you choose a contractor. Highest bidder for leads?

All feedback appreciated.

Definitely agree with this approach, just have to figure out a good price per lead. I'm going to make a few phone calls and see what companies typically spend for a lead (if they'll divulge.)

I've worked in this particular industry in the past and remember our marketing guy saying that the advertising spend per lead was around $150.

My guess is that I'll only be able to get between $30 and $50, but who knows? Don't want to underpay myself either -- after all it's going to determine my ROI on ppc spend.

Propose to the companies you either take 2 routes:

Per Lead:
You basically set a fixed price, and give them 1-2 upfront as an example of what the conversions and money is like then both agree to a price per lead and on what each lead will contain.

Per sale:
No price per lead, and pay a fixed or % rate per every sale. You will take all the leads and call them as a verifier or a follow up call to see if they are interested. You never know you could even get no go leads to change their mind over the phone. You can maybe agree something with the contractor where you can offer 1-10% off over the phone to close sales on his behalf.

You can follow up with the customer directly, 30 days after the quote. Or after you find out from the contractor what the deal was. If they say "OMG no he flaked", call the customer and ask how his services were and if he says "Awesome, we got a 30k deck installed!" you know you're ready to smash faces.

anyone know of programmers that can develop a lead gen site like this?
I need to get some leads for my dads business. I keep getting screwed over by designers, so if you know of anyone, pm me

I mean honestly all you'd need is a nice landing page a a little bit of server side coding. you might want to check out someone like lpmaker.com and have him make you up a landing page. Then you can add copy writing and he has a guy that can do the form + code integration. Probably a total cost of around 60-80 bux.
