I have a fairly specific request for a recommendation. But...I trust a recommendation from someone on WF much more than teh Googlez. So...does anyone know of a quality accountant in the Philadelphia area that is familiar with IM, or at least flexible and intelligent enough to work with it?

I've reached the point where it's straight up stupid to be still running a sole prop. and I need to set-up some type of business, both for ease of reporting and hopefully tax benefits. If anyone could set me up with someone good to talk to that would be awesome.

papajohn gave the best advice evah on hiring an accountant.

I'll paraphrase cause I'm not looking up the thread: Ask them how much does 1+1 equal: when you find the one that says 'how much do you want it to equal' that's ur man!

if you own a business, move out of philly, taxes will eat away your profits. i contemplated moving into philly and even chestnut hill since it's a great place to bike and run, but decided not to.

I only go here for college (currently), so I would most likely not use Philly as my address, which I think is legit (although obviously talk with an accountant to make sure). Are the city taxes that bad though?

Plus I live in the hood so I don't even think I'm expected to pay taxes (jokes).

My cousin is an accountant in NJ who handled my company. PM me if you want contact info. ~1hr drive from Philly but you'd only need to do like one face-to-face meeting, if that. You could probably handle the entire thing over phone/email.
