What countries outside of the U.S. have you guys been on vacation to that you would recommend for a summer vacation? Preferably a country that has not been westernized (I don't want to see a burger king and mcdonalds on every other block like I did in Israel) and that has great people and a great culture.

Hi Ben89, I hear Chile is nice. Don't know much about the fast food joints but I hear the street food is delicious.

I went to Cuba last year. CA$1,200 per person for an all-inclusive trip. It's a really nice place if you can stand the heat. Absolutely terrific people; always have a smile on their face and very friendly.

I think your choices might be a tad limited if you want to steer clear of Western corporate influence. I live in the south of Spain, and there are unfortunately fast food joints about. However, that's not to say that it isn't enjoyable, especially if you like to golf (there are over 50 golf courses within an hour's drive of me) and to spend time on the beaches.

I love Ibiza and Barcelona. A friend of mine from Croatia has a old rustic place back there that he recently rebuilt and it looks beautiful. I'd like to visit Greece and Italy too. Some friends of mine moved to the southern parts of Argentina and the photos they've sent back of the lakes and mountains look incredible, and untouched by McDonald's.

Good luck in whatever you decide on.

Turkey, alanya or marmaris. Bulgaria, sunny beach. Those two are big tourist cities for western and northern europeans. Mostly swedes, germans and norwegeians go there. So if you want a lot of 16+ slutty girls.. that's where to go.

Hungary, somewhere around balaton.
Thailand, khao lak.
Brazil, rio.
Maldives.

I'm pretty sure you will find mcdonalds and burger king no matter where you go... but i'd say alanya is the least westernized place out of those.

Maldives - no question. However you might want to avoid going there for new years break, it will cost you a whole lot more.

You could try Belize! Poor as shit, but beautiful, very little corporate influence once you get out of Belize City.

Dam you got ripped off, unless you hit up some expensive ass resort. I went to Cuba this year in april for $600 all inclusive 4 star resort. Although I did book like a week before so... It was amazing and perfect weather every day.

Many Europeans favor Spain and Portugal for the low prices and ample sunshine. Costa Rica is a stable democracy that has great things to see, like an unspoiled rain forest preserve. The weather is approximately the same all year round because it's close to the equator.

I'm partial to Sri Lanka, which is a beautiful place.

I would also suggest Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Thailand, or Maldives (based on what you specified).

Thailand & Malaysia are both beautiful but avoid the cities and hit the islands! I can recommend Koh Phi Phi in Thailand and Langkawi in Malaysia - both were just the right mix of party/chill, not too touristy but enough stuff there to get by if you don't speak the lingo (that was a couple of years ago so might've changed now). Langkawi is also duty free ;)

Try India, Incredible India, Cheapest and best, with least Effect of western..it got 1000+ cultures of its own living together

southeast asia is amazing.HongKong's great.really modern with English and Chinese history. Bali is great too,a tropical paradise with modern tourist facilities for you to chill out.
