Good PHP book?

Whats a good PHP book to get a good overview of the basics? One my test is done this weekend I'd like to stop thinking about programs I will have made for me and start doing some scripting myself.

I have some basic/intermediate level of programming experience from a few years back when I was into it - not up to speed with anything anymore besides the logic of it though...

I'd use their site PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor or w3schools PHP Tutorial to get started before spending your dough on a book. At least you can learn the basics for free which should be easy seeing you already have programming experience.

no need to buy a book.. there are plenty of tutorials out there. go through the w3schools ones posted above, then reference php.net (also posted above) whenever you're looking for examples or new functions.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone in this thread and say go to php.net. It might help to pick up a book from the library, but I definately wouldn't spend any money on one.

I remember my boss gave me a PHP book when I was learning it. It made for a sweet paperweight.

Nah seriously, look up beginner tutorials and once you start to get the hang of it just use php.net. I have bought several PHP books and barely look at any of them

Just grab some O'Reilly's books from torren... did I just say that out loud?

Few years back I learnt alot from the SitePoint.com books.. but I was a complete newbie!!
