:disgust: Has anyone ever experienced seeing Google shutdown all ads for a brand name keyword (for example Nike).

This just happened 5 minutes ago, Google shutdown 4 major keywords that hit in many conversions. No ads are showing AT ALL! Not mine, not my competitors..

Can this just be temporary!?

Thanks :|

That's what you get for advertising on Google. So far it seems only Kevin Hoeffer can pull it off...

yes, they did that to me and then closed 2 accounts for good but I was taking it a little further than just bidding on tms. Not sure if they receive c+d's constantly it's an on again off again game for google and bidding on those terms.

They say one month they are going to let it go carte blanche then say they care, you can never tell and of course I can never get in touch with anyone for a direct and reasonable answer.

Was your ad text deceptive? From my understanding, you can use brand names in ad text, but only in certain ways. Especially in the ad title.

What's your quality score? Is your ad denied, are you not showing due to low quality score? Were you using the TM in your ad copy? Need some info in order to help you figure this one out...

Google doesn't care about advertising on competitor TM keywords unless you're improperly using the TM in your ad - I've been on the side of a TM holder, and it's still pretty difficult to get competitors using your TM improperly off the page.

does google actually receive c+d's from companies trying to knock competitors from bidding on their terms?

is there really any legal ground for that - bidding on a trademark term through google?

doesn't seem like there would be

No.

I'm thinking the best money to be made with Google, is shorting the stock. Ad revenues going to tank next quarter with all the Adwords account they canned recently.

I have seen it happen several times over the years with various niches, they just put enough pressure or paid google off to just remove all ads. Lost quite a few campaigns that way too.

What the fuck is happening to this forum?
