Google charged my bank account about £400 without any notice, google has come back to me saying there is no record of this charge on my adwords account, (I only have 1 google account) this made me miss bill payments and i have received charges from my bank and from my existing direct debits, and it will have damaged my credit score, where do i stand legally? am i able 2 get compensation from google for money i have lost due to this and am i able to claim for damage to my credit score as a result of the missed payments this has caused?

I am in talks with google at the min with this, is anybody able 2 help, sure there are a few people on here that would like 2 screw google..

P.S. sorry in advance for any spelling mistakes etc I’m really bad at my grammar and in a bit of a rush as I’m in work.

I don't think Google will do anything for ya. Sorry man. Might want to try working with your bank and see if they will waive the fees. Also, most places won't touch your credit score unless you have delinquent accounts for more than 30 days. Best of luck to ya...

You can claim the excess bank charges from Google as, yes, it's illegal to do what they did (under uk law anyway, I used to work for a high st bank). Main reason why I never set up direct debits.

And go to the Citizens Advice Bureau (if you can get an appointment) because they can give you proper procedures to follow if your bank won't help. Your bank is supposed to help of course, but all those lovely fees building up, mmmmmm, they lurve it.

Your credit card is charged based on your AdWords billing cycle. When you create and activate your account with a credit card, debit card, or direct debit, Google starts running your ads almost immediately. We then charge you every 30 days unless your advertising costs reach a certain threshold within your 30-day billing cycle.
We won't charge you before 30 days unless you earn US$50 worth of clicks or impressions, depending on whether you're running a CPC or CPM campaign. The first time your account reaches US$50 within 30 days, we'll charge you. Then, we'll let you accrue US$200 worth of clicks before charging you within the subsequent 30 days.
If you reach your US$200 limit within 30 days, Google will bill you and raise your billing threshold to US$350. Once you reach the US$350 threshold, you'll be billed again, and your threshold will be raised to US$500, the maximum allowed. Remember that the amount billed may be in excess of the threshold since ads will continue to run and generate charges between the time the billing cycle is triggered and the time the charge is completed.
The activation fee, along with any other advertising costs accrued, is charged to your credit card at the end of your first billing period.

Their terms and conditions don't mean shit cos this was a direct debit, so they have to go by the banking rules, ie they should have given 10 days notice that they were going to take the money AND what the amount would be. End of story.

they have taken another £550 from my account via DD today, after i have already sent them loads of emails, i have also sent them a screen shot of my bank statement showing the direct debits going out as they requested (blocked out my other info). I HATE GOOGLE!

Hmm, that sucks. It's not like Google is some tiny little mail box company somewhere with a proprietor on his way to Mexico or something...

It's not wonder, have you been looking at Google's stock lately? They need your money to pay for the free lunches.

you might want to talk to your bank and ask them what you can do do stop further charges. Could someone have your card number and be using it fraudulently? I had someone get a phone in my name. I never found out until it was in collection. The phone company had a fraud department and straightened it out. The bank usually has some kind of policy regarding fraudulent charges.

Hope you get it straightened out soon.
