Hey bros,

Google indexed one of my sites as https and now when I go to it through the search results it comes up as an error.

"This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to cPanel®, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified."

Now it won't go away. What can I do about it?

Any rewrites or anything?

I would camp out in front of Matt Cutt's house until you get a response. Throw things when he comes outside, use his front yard as a bathroom, etc...

Or you could do one of the following:

1.) 301 redirect from https to http.
2.) What they said about certificate.
3.) Use the <link></link> to show google your preffered link for each page: this probably won't work since the page isn't coming up at this point.
4.) A combination of all three so hopefully you don't have to renew the https cert next year.

Why this happened is probably because someone linked (or you linked) to your site with https instead of http.

For your htaccess:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$
RewriteRule ^robots\.txt$ robots_ssl.txt [L]

In robots_ssl.txt you Deny: /

Also check your site for stray links from the https portion that point to the non-secure portion (this is usually caused by path-relative navigation).

Had this happen on a site that got 30,000 UVs a month from search, all gone for 3 days while we patched it up.

If you're technical, you could have HTTPS > HTTP redirect. Or just block 443 and not serve up anything.
