Google is wasting honest webmasters time and giving them ulcers.

Scumbag-Google-logo.jpg

I have my own small network of sites and blogs, maybe like 300 sites.

So since panda I get 2 or 3 emails a day from "authority" sites begging me to remove the link to their site.

Basically, I would use these blogs and post an article for a client. Then, I would also link out to 2 or 3 other "authority" sites in the clients niche in the post.

So all these 1000's and 1000's of poor fucks, well not all, but a lot of them, are either manually sending out personalized emails begging me to remove the link or hiring a company to do it for them.

Something seems really shitty about the whole thing to me. Not to mention I never remove the links because it's fucking stupid and I'm not going to waste my time fucking with it.

So all these webmasters, most of whom are probably "legit" when it comes to their SEO, are having fucking panic attacks over this shit and there is nothing they can really do about it.

Just seems really shitty of Google to fuck with all these people because they can't get their fucking algo together all the way.

just got this one, inspired me to make this rant.

Hello I am the webmaster for Custom USB Flash Drive - Bulk, Promotional, Wholesale, Branded USB Flash Drives

In light of Google’s newest algorithm change, I need to request that you remove every link to www.customusb.com from your website.

Below is our link location: edited out it is not too much of a hassle, I would appreciate you letting me know once it has been removed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Thank You

k end rant

in b4 cool story faggot and etc etc

start charging.

pretty sure it's illegal, or at least a nice gateway to a lawsuit? I have thought about doing it, but it seems like the risk isn't worth the reward. Last thing I want is some asshole webmaster taking me to court saying I am trying to extort him or some shit.

What am I gonna get each time I remove a link? $20? Meh.

I don't think anyone can stop you from linking to their site from yours. Where's Aaron Kelly?

I get flooded with these emails as well - not going to waste my time removing the links, I report them all as spam. Deal with it bro's.

Holy shit. Ice just nailed it!

Step 1: Build Umpteen zillion websites that look like Pewep made them while high.

Step 2: Link them all to every ranking site in their niche.

Step 3: Submit to teh googles.

Step 4: Wait for the emails from po'd webmasters...

Step 5. Direct them to your form that offers them pricing option to have the link removed for different amounts of time. (Extortion rebill! Fucking A!)

Step 6. Remove links when money is paid. End of story.

Oh fuck me this is an awesome biz plan if you know how to automate... In fact if my sites weren't so awesome looking I'd try to just add this in to my existing empire.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....

Edit: Oh yeah, the lawsuit thing... I guess I'd like to hear from Arron first on the likelihood of those lawsuits. :\

I just had a great idea.

Someone should buy like 1000 deindexed domains, like old blog farms and shit.

Then go fucking crazy and write a script that randomly takes articles from ezinearticles.com and makes automatic posts and adds in backlinks to random sites off the internet.

Then, when they contact you have an auto-reply setup that says you need $500 to remove the link. Don't actually ever accept any money, just tell them it's going to be $500. And relay this message in the most scumbag wording you can think of. Preferably with broken English and perhaps some affiliation to hacking groups or Iran or N Korea or some shit for added outrage.

I promise if you sent 10k or so of these replies to webmaster it would create a pretty big shitstorm. The google help forums and SEO blogs would pick it up.

Would make for really bad PR for Google. If I wasn't so fucking lazy and worthless, I'd probably try it.

Also, if done correctly, and a very small trail was left for someone to follow and "discover" the parent company behind the whole thing, you could get some epic viral web design/SEO related backlinks out of the whole thing. After the shit blows over, 301 to your site or just take the extortion site down and throw up an SEO or web development company site.

...I wish I wasn't so lazy

Tired of this shit as well. I receive a shit ton of those. I used to ignore those for a while, but then some fucks started sending dmca complaints to my hosting. I would then try to explain to hosting companies that it's just a fucking link, but they would ask me to remove it either way within 2 fucking days.

Create a company that promises link removal from any blog within it's network. Anytime someone sends a link removal request advise them that the request has to come from the company. They sign up for a per month membership to be protected. For an additional amount a month you'll email blogs outside of the network requesting links be removed.

Had the same thing happen to me. Do they happen to be sites that you had in ALN? I've gotten umpteen requests for link removal from sites that I solely had in ALN.

Who the fuck puts their clients sites in ALN anyways?

You make the assumption that google would care, I think it would work to their advantage "see don't you dare build even just 1 link or you'll have to pay $500 to get each one removed".

I personally welcome this train wreck, the SEO "industry" was getting too big, a female friend sent me a link to a fashion forum where they were discussing SEO tactics to use to expand their mary kay/pampered chef "business" which was basically web 2.0's and a bunch of links courtesy of fiverr. One quote that stood out was something to the effect of "wow seo is super easy, you don't even have to lift a finger to make money". Thankfully penguin was rolled out the next week and I praised the SEO gods (Grindstone?).

I get these too. Once I replied back in broken engrish that I'd be happy to add more of their links to my site. Told them I'd add their link to my whole network and thanked them for contacting me.
