So Google released a pretty cool interactive infographic "how search works"
How Search Works - The Story ? Inside Search ? Google

It's all basic stuff we as internet marketers know inside and out, but one thing I thought was really interesting are the "Live Spam Screenshots". You have to scroll down 9/10ths of the way and look for the "See what we've removed lately" link. It warns you that the results are generated live and are not moderated. All these pages are being marked as "pure spam", by monitoring the sites that pop up here, and looking for common factors you should be able to gain some insight into the spam filters and whatnot.

These sites are very obviously spammy so we're not going to learn anything profound, but I still think this is pretty interesting.

The next link under that "See Actions Taken Over Time" might be useful too.

By looking for spikes in certain types of "spam removal" you might be able to better identify why your site takes a hit.

...that "Manual action by month" timeline really hints it's about time for a new "penguin". Almost a year since any "unnatural links to your site" action.

I would strongly stay away from using this tool, until the lab rats at BHW, DP, and Wafo decide to use it and tell their results. This feels worst than the disavow.

I'm pretty sure some idiots are not going to listen, just like they didn't listen about disavow. *sigh*

This isn't really a tool you can enter information into, its just a feed of sites they're de-indexing. It's more like a crack in the wall we can peek into to get a glimpse of what's going on.
You can't submit sites or even search for them, you don't even need to be logged in to see it, I'd say this is 100% safe.

Did anything ever happen with that tool? I never used it, I was planning on testing it out on a bombed out site just to see what happens, but never got around to it. Are people actually getting ass fucked after using it or is this just normal SEO paranoia talking?

Wondering the same. I have a new client who's previous SEO company fucked them with shitty links. I was going to give that tool a whirl.

as in linking a buy now link to another site?

on mine, I coded it to js post to another page, which then redirects using js, should I be concerned lol.

I wouldn't imagine the person using it is gonna get fucked just for using it, but they're gonna add all their incoming links to the 'to be deindexed' list, fucking over both themselves and anyone else who's built a link from the same site.

Ccarter, got a 'snitches get stitches' video?

this is just Googles plain old vanilla SPAM filter that picks out the worst of the worst. they would never really show us legitimate information that we can use. its kind of like "hey, these are terribly obvious websites that wouldn't even pass webcrawler.com's spam filter." I'd love to see a live data shot of the penguin filter.
