It's retarded how fast people I know are switching over, it seems like a lot of people have had enough of Facebook's shit.

All the techie people are switching over because we like new things. It is to early to tell if regular people will make the switch. I was talking to a bunch of people tonight and none of them have even heard of google+.

The way I see it (as an online marketer) is I really really hope g+ never gains enough traction. If it takes over then Google owns the internet and we all know what the means for us as marketers. At least for now, facebook hasn't totally banned affiliates etc.

Agreed, I had to explain to my wife what google+ is. I invited, she joined and then went right back to posting on Facebook. It'll be interesting to see what it's like in 3-6 months. I'd be fine with it becoming a better LinkedIn / techie focused Facebook-Twitter hybrid, which I see it becoming for me now.

Yeah, I think Google may have (finally) got it right this time.

The Circles are great, definite killer feature, I tried to do the same with Facebook Lists and it was a joke, total fail.

College student here, it's legit. I know a bunch of people hopping on Google+. Everyone wants an invite. They are posting facebook statuses, etc. etc. It's like gmail all over again. The biggest appeal seems to be the "Hangout" feature. I wouldn't say it is replacing facebook for them, but it sure as fuck is peaking their interest.

Google always doing some implements and innovation in technology. This time it is great to see such kind of implements. This is a terrific job done by Google.

That's what I'm hoping for too, but with the added bonus of personal family / friend streams for those you care about.

With Facebook, you have to listen to everyone tell you they just ate some nachos, or their kid spilled their cheerios, or they finished cleaning the house, or it was raining while they were driving, or whatever the fuck useless shit people come up with. Really, I don't give a shit that you just bought some girl guide cookies, and I don't think many others do either.

I'm hoping this Circles thing can make that disappear. :)

Most of regular people will stay on facebook because of farmville/mafia shit... I only see people who are somehow interested in tech coming in...

If what they're trying to do is dragging users from Facebook and start using Google+, they are gonna fail big time. Geek users will indeed at least test the tool for a while, but that is not enough. Three times they have failed so far (Orkut, Wave, Buzz) and this time looks like it's not different.
First of all, it still looks like an attached function that you get for using gmail or any other google product. If you want the masses to use it, then that is the first mistake.
It could work though for more professional/job related purposes, in that case it could try to compete with Linkedin, and fail again.

Google's strategy to pull the orkut users back. It will be better if Google+ is not exact clone of facebook.

LOL at OP.

I was giving out invites yesterday on my facebook and only the 'tech guys' were asking for them. (yes literally only men).

Everyone else was like... "What is Google+?"

I have mixed emotions on which I think is going to win/lose in this situation.

Ultimately, I bitch but Google+ is actually pretty cool shit. I am so over facebook and seeing my friends post song lyrics, youtube videos, and pictures of food, drinks, or there ugly fucking faces.

Facebook Features + LinkedIN Professionalism = Google+

i'm only doing this because you said you are in college. its PIQUE not peak.

Its literally day one of launch and 40 of my friends are already having regular activity on Google+

Also, only college kids and techies started using facebook when it launched, I'm not saying facebook is gonna eat it tomorrow or even in a month, but 2 years down the line? I'd expect Google+ to be rivaling facebook.

No old person knew what Facebook was in its young days either
