Since a couple of months, I've been noticing on Google Analytics that most of my websites' visitors are coming from this highly lucrative keyword: (Not Provided)

Tried different Analytics tools like GetClicky too... same story, different wording: [Secure Search]

Apparently Google is planning to eventually move everyone into their HTTPS:// protocol and that means we webmasters and marketers will NEVER know which keywords brought us traffic/conversions.

What the fuck can we do to stop this? DDOS Google? Nanexo? :stonedsmilie:

Seriously though... do you realize the impact of this shit right here for our future?

Woah, it's like I stepped into a time machine and it's January all over again.

^ So what if it's old news? More and more web users are moving into secure search so this shit is becoming more and more dangerous for us. Last year I believe only 20-25% of my visitors were from secured searches. Today it's over 50%!

Anyone know Google's end game on this one?

Since the data is blocked on Google Analytics as well, it would be hard to sue Google for anti competitive practices.

I've got the perfect plan.

We'll sit outside the Googleplex until nightfall and wait patiently for the army of nerds on Segways to pass us by. When we get our opening, we'll hop in right through the back door.

Our first priority is to locate Sergey. We'll spike his apple juice with 18.6 hits of Acid and lock him in the Adwords department. It's perfect because nobody actually works in there. It'll take about 2 hours for the acid to kick in, at which point Sergey will start tripping serious fucking balls, man.

Next up, we find Matt Cutts and spam him with our fists. We take him as a hostage and bring him with us to our last stop, Eric Schmidt's office. We'll force Matt to knock and pretend he's a sex starved 12 year old boy, which will surely get Eric to open the door. Once he takes the bait, we'll bum rush him and Google slap him to death.

Nanexo will hack into his computer, and we'll send an internal memo with instructions to reveal keyword searches 100% of the time to webmasters from now on. We'll send another memo to accounting with instructions to paypal 10 billion dollars to Nickycakes. And last but not least, we'll send another meme to the front end design team and have them change Google's logo to this...

You can use the CTR data in Webmaster Tools to help supplement the missing data, but it does suck not having it.

^ I don't know if we'll get it back bros. Considering Google hates SEOs and Affiliate Marketers, which are the only ones using that data. Makes me wonder if Google doesn't want to fuck us all once and for all.

This cat and rat game will go on......
Google knitting traps and the web masters breaking through...

Advertisers can see the referrers, so it's available for a price. As mentioned, old news. SEO is dead.

Simple - it's to force people to stop investing in SEO, and spend more money in Adwords. If someone comes to your site via PPC, you get keyword data.

I use PPC for that reason, then use the keywords that convert to inform my SEO strategy.
