The short version is that this woman Barbara has been a patient of my sister who's a nurse at a local hospital here in Oceanside, Ca. She's an old lady who's come upon hard times and doesn't have enough money to pay for her monthly prescriptions, let alone get into an apartment. I've never met her, but my sister says she's a great lady who just needs a break.

She'd diabetic and has other medical issues and has been living in her car on the streets since her husband left her and her home was foreclosed upon. I've been trying to help my sister and a couple other people get some money together for her so at least she can off the streets for a while and try to get back on her feet.

She's not out buying crack or booze or any of that shit. Barbara could be any of our mom's, grandma's, aunt's etc., who's just old and down on her luck. You guys have come through big time for a couple other charity's I've pitched here, for which I'm always very grateful.

If you're looking for a good cause and have a couple extra bucks to spare, consider a small donation. Any amount will make a huge difference. Thanks.

Yeah no Paypal. Sorry about that.

I appreciate the donations.

Donated. Good luck.

Sounds like she should qualify for Medicare and Medi-Cal which should take care of her medication.

Donated also it might be a good idea to send some PPC traffic to the page.

A facebook promoted post page sharing her story going from being a comfortable family woman/tax paying citizen to having nothing, being desperate, having health issues without a home would do nice I think...

Also reposting on other forums will MASSIVELY help. I forum post could = 1k in donations.

I thought Cali was so awesome for benefits etc? Wouldn't she qualify for free healthcare?

Have you thought about hitting up the drug company directly for some discounts of the meds? For more expensive meds they have programs where they will pay your deductible for a little while. Worth hitting them up. Also, check with the doc for free samples. If she has a great relationship with the doc check if he can work with his pharma rep...?

Also, have you checked with some of the bigger churches in the area? How about the Catholic Church? They have things like the 'Covenant Houses' which if i remember right though is focused on people under the age of 18.

There's another woman who knows Barbara better who's working on a bunch of this stuff.

There is a FB page that a friend of my sister created and it's making the rounds on Facebook.

Thanks for all the donations.
