Graphics for Templates

I've noticed that ALL the rights for images (even creative commons stuff really) can't be used in templates with out the authors permission.

Where the hell are all the WP designers and Template Designers getting their graphics?

I've got a collection of about 20 flash cards filled with pictures, things and places, etc... Still half of them are asking for a lawsuit because they are of people I don't have release forms from.

Is there some secret place that has images you can use for templates that aren't a couple hundred a piece?

I believe they just pay to use a stock image library, or a certain amount of.

If you search you can find a lot of designers give away icons, illustrations, pretty much everything. Just make sure to read the rights.

Sites like smashingmagazine.com give away loads of stuff for any use.

Or get good with Illustrator and Photoshop and make your own

You really should be able to find LOADS if you look hard enough.

My concerns aren't things I can make with photoshop - I'm handy enough (if not creative enough to always make my vision). I'm really talking about photo's - of people.

I've found bigstockphoto since I made this post, and it allows use of images in templates... so I've found what I was looking for.

Really sort suprised there aren't more "open" photo sources though.

There is some stocks but you have to pay for the best ones. Here is two sites for you.

Course some designers regardless of good or bad, can often time be copyright newbs, and may in a way not even be allowed to distribute the template. Something to think about I guess.
