Why? Because I love the guitar and Jake E. Lee is an underrated badass. I have nothing more to add.

Fuckin' rite he is! That thing he does at 1:11 - 1:27 is bad as fuck. Love Jake E. Lee.

I see your Jake E. Lee, and up you a malmsteen:

Gonna throw these in too. Get yer groove on. Some of my favorites:

STEVE VAI THE FUCKING *MAN*

STEVE VAI GODDAMN HE'S FUCKING AWESOME

BUCKETHEAD - DA FUCK YOU SAY? FUCKING RITE YAWL:

BUCKETHEAD - DAT TEKNEEQ!

That sweep he does at 2:36 makes me cry. I go back and forth between Vai and Satch. Satch is so much more melodic and emotional, and Vai just makes my jaw hit the floor. Insane guitar. Jake E Lee aint too bad either. Yngwie = neo classical, technical wankery.

JOE SATRIANI - SPANKING YOUR MOMMA WITH HIS NOODLE

@Jizzlobber:

Randy was great. Who knows what he would have become had he a few more years.

@vikingred:

Malmsteen is fine if you're in the mood for his style of shredding. But he ain't got nothin' on Gary Moore when Moore hits a groove. Listen to this and see if his notes don't tug at you...

As for Vai, I saw him play with Whitesnake years ago. I don't think Coverdale appreciated Vai taking the spotlight away from him.

@Moxie:

Thanks for the video. I'll check it out when I have more time. :)

@medicalhumor:

Man, I haven't thought about Gillis since Night Ranger. He can still definitely rock in America.

@microphone head:

I have 2 discs by Andy Timmons. That tone he gets is unreal. Great writing, too.

@stamp:

Andy James is very good. His style is not my favorite, but the guy clearly knows his way around the neck.

To all: post more please. (Still waiting for Stevie Ray Vaughan to make an appearance.) I'll do the same if the thread gets legs.

I am a music fan/musician, had a band for many years.
Guitar Olympics, no gracias.
I respect them...but there is not a lot of groove to most of the "shredders."
Guys like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, etc. are in a different class.
Guitar solo's will go the way of clarinet solo's from the 40's.

Thanks for that one. I'd never heard of that guy, but he's amazing.

I couldn't agree more. And don't forget this bad motherfucker.

Hard to top this genius though.

By the way, for anybody who loves Hendrix, the Hear My Train a Comin' documentary that the BBC did recently is pretty good.

of course, he wouldn't be half as good as he is if it wasn't for this guy:

Fuck yeah. Danny Gatton was amazing. Such a distinctive sound too. You can tell it's him in like a half dozen notes.

(I know cabezon already posted Stevie, but Texas Flood is just that good.)

And here's John Petrucci with Jordan Rudess (the keys are particularly good on the 2nd piece - sorry, no live footage):

I'm only posting videos of the disabled in this thread.

Django tried hard, he did ok for a guy with two workable fingers on his fretting hand.
