Hey people,

I don't understand H1 and H2 tags. I'm sorry; I just don't. In spite of avid searching of the Internet I remain an H1 H2 tragic.

So. Let's assume I have a blog the URL which is <flyfishing.XXX>, that the principal key phrase that I will be targeting with my articles is "fly fishing" and that other key phrases that I shall be targeting in my article writing will be "fly tying", "fly tying kits", "fly tying materials" and "saltwater flies".

Right. Now. I write an article the title of which is "Flyfishing: some tips for beginners"

But I now come to the dreaded H1 H2 boxes. What the heck do I put in them? What's the ideal example?

Thanks and Cheers!

H1, H2, H3, H4, etc. are all the titles of "sections" of your page. They are what break up the blocks of text.

So, H1 would be the title of your article (usually), H2 would be one of the main sections within that article/page, H3 would be a subsection, H4 would be a subsection within that subsection, etc.

You should only have 1 H1 (W3C standards), but you can have multiple H2, H3, etc. tags.

H1 - TITLE
H2 - FIRST TOPIC
H3 - SUB TOPIC
H3 - SUB TOPIC
H2 - SECOND TOPIC
H3 - SUB TOPIC
H3 - SUB TOPIC

and so on..

Visit your competitor, or any good websites.

Got to view of the browser.
Chose view page source.

See what they got in the H1 and H2 Tags.

For your example..

I would have for the homepage title as <title> FLy Fishing</title>

<h1>Intro: Fly fishing </h1>
Then an intro article on flyshing

<h2>fly tying kits</h2>

Write all your content in <h1> tags for 241% increase in SE1 Spiders

Followed by using the FONT tags to change the size to 1px and color to your background color for any content that isn't in your main content area. No sense in confusing your users with extra information, and this will optimize your page well.

:p

Please don't waste your H1 Tag... do not insert the title of your page as H1.

" H1 Tag is the 1st heading on your page: your site market
This should be followed by a short paragraph using variations of the target keywords and at all times making good grammatical sense, thinking of the potential reader first and the search engines second."

Hope it helps,

Cheers!
