When using Google UK, instead of results showing several word in the title like;

The Company | Keyword 1 | Keyword 2

Its just one or two words in the title?

Your first searches are for "search" and "ebay"... what else do you expect to show up other than "Google" and "eBay"?

Your last search is for "kitchen fitters" and so you get results for "kitchen fitters" along with "fitting calculator" and "kitchen fitting forum", which kind of disproves your theory.

They may be running a test. They only follow <title> tags like 70% of the time in the verticals I follow.

I know this is a thing but I've also been seeing it more and more lately on a few sites as well. Google definitely be testing something here, perhaps to do with mobile where the screen size is smaller?

I think you should contact eBay and advise them to add more keywords into their title.

A lot of my searches in the last 24 hours are showing books.google.com results almost exclusively on the second pages.

Its funny because while this was happening I tried it on my iPhone and everything was normal there. Just the desktop.
