Doing some book reading on how to write copy, and headlines. Something that was suggested by SEO_Mike, and definitely worth while.

I thought this little headline section off of BBC.CO.UK helps to make a point. They all make the same statement, about the same event. Some are more compelling then others.

Just one more aspect to incorporate for your split testing.
 


People have short attention span while reading newspapers/news websites.
No.4 clicks instantly, followed by No.3
 
Attention hierarchy in headlines works the same way in product design even a virtual reality game development company would likely A/B test interfaces for immediate user attention. Short attention spans make the ranking of those BBC snippets feel very predictable: clarity wins first, complexity loses fast.
