This is not something that I think could be a super profitable niche but I'd like to be able to pull off at least 20 dollars a month if possible as a starting point. I have been working on a content site which has at the very least managed to increase it's traffic every month. The audience is people who like anime and manga. I've tried adsense and got one click. I've tried several clickbank products some for drawing manga, a couple weird ones and now i'm trying an angry birds guide with a banner geared towards Naruto/anime/manga fans. Nothing from any of them, not many hops either. And I've also tried a few amazon links to products based on the content and nothing. Is there anyway I could maybe get adds that pay me everytime a unique user loads them? Or what would you suggest I do. Last month I have over 300 unique visitors I'm hoping to get over 500 this month.

You seem to have a bunch of content on there.

If I was in your position and was looking for a quick $20 per month, I would build up some incoming links, build your PR and try to sell some outbound links from your site (maybe directly in the content with a clients chosen keyword?). If you can find 10 potential partners and sell them a link for $25 per year ($2 per month), you would reach your goal.

I don't know if this would actually work - i'm just thinking out loud...
 
Adsense would work, did you try changing your ad placement at all? I know you said you tried adsense but sometimes you need optimize your page.
 
That kind of traffic has never converted for me. It's a quality site though and you might be able to sell some text links. The problem is just that the traffic really isn't interested in ads and isn't dumb enough to fall for the normal tricks.

I have a friend who has an anime/manga site, we have tried plenty of stuff on that site, and the most profitable thing has been jlist and selling ad spaces on projectwonderful.

How much traffic do you have?
 
Mate, change the ad placement.
Make it like blended in site colors and when any1 comes to your site, he must see 70% + adsense links and clicks will increase for sure.
 
THanks for the tips so far, last month I think it got about 800 visits, I'm over 500 visits this month so I'll probably get around 1000 for a while at best. and I will probably get at least 500 uniques this month as I got over 300 all ready. But it's probably mostly the same people coming back each month :(. I will see if anyone would want to pay for links and the project wonderful thing.

I've been looking into how to raise my page rank but pretty much everything I looked at says the only way to get a higher page rank is with good links to your site. I have mostly crap back links most of which I just bought to see if they would be worth it. The best one I have is probably my homepage domain which is a 2 probably only because it's a fairly only domain. Is there anyway to at least bring it up to a 1 or 2 page rank without backlinks?
 
No clue about the PR, it's not worth a dime for me.

You should increase traffic somehow, that kind of traffic would be ok for a landing page/site, but not for a generic content site.

Have you tried adsense or chitika?
 
Use a content gateway from a place like Blamads, and instruct the visitor that unless they fill out a relevant offer, then you will be forced to take their ip address hostage.
