I've entered specific keywords and then tried "Update All Bids for Position 1"

It gives me costs of like $50-$90 per click!?!!? Even on keywords it says it doesnt estimate any traffic or clicks?

What the heck am I doing wrong?
Does MSN check the landing page and does that determine CPC pricing?

I can set the bids to like a $1.00 a click but even that seems hefty and it doesnt seem to get the traffic delivering. They estimate X amount of traffic and X amount of clicks but then don't deliver any traffic.

Keywords are phrase/exact only and usually pretty specific?

Bid for something like 5$, see max traffic
Adjust accordingly so you bid the least and get the maximum amount of estimated traffic
No idea if it's a good way, but that's how I roll!

I'm not sure what you could be bidding on that would be $50 - $90 a click.

Sounds like you need to move into some long tails [multiple word keywords]. Hell there is nothing wrong with just setting it at $1 and seeing what happens. Most PPC platforms give you bogus information anyways.

Start reasonable, see where your average position is, and adjust your bid accordingly. 1st place isn't always the best place to be.

That's just the thing.
These are long-tail keywords, all of them - none less than 2 words most 3,4

all phrase and exact
so I assumed I'm doing something incorrectly.
