I’ve just started an online business and need some advice on how to promote my website, increase traffic etc.

Maybe if you posted what your business is and what your goals are and maybe even your website, we could offer more direction. As the question is posted it is much too general to give helpful advice. We could tell you the cookie cutter things: do CPC advertising, post in relevant forums, get links on blogs, do link exchanges, write articles and submit to directories, hold a contest, put the link in your signature....

If you want advice specific to YOUR project, you should give us some more to work with.

Yes...right a few articles. Then submit them to article directories.
