Hiding Destination URL

If you have a link in a message board forum post or blog post is there a way to hide the destination URL from being displayed?

For example, could I have a word phrase that is displayed as a link, but the actual destination URL not be visible?

Not without the use of Javascript or some URL cloaking/redirecting.

This doesn't exactly hide it, but it sort of works:

Writing link in http://www.differentaddress.com format and pointing it to http://www.affiliatedomain.com works great. It seems that when people are seeing url in http://... format, they don't even suspect it might be something else than what it says it is

Yes, the board or forum must allow javascript or else it is not possible. But you can use it on this board if I'm not mistaking. If you are typing a quick reply, click on the hyperlink button, type your url, and once that is done, change the last url in the code to any word you like. I hope this helps
