Hologram, my ass. That really wasn't even very good blue screen work - would never have made the cut in Hollywood, yet the non tech people that I was watching the election coverage with thought it was cool as hell. Bah.

Anything to try and catch up with the ratings that Fox News recieves.

Fuckin weak at that.

Popeye, we may not agree politically, but we do agree that this hologram is BS. it looks like Shit, AND Jimmy Kimmel did it better a couple of years ago with Howard Stern.

FAIL!

I saw an interview with a manager at the company who did the hologram effects for CNN, and he said that CNN specifically asked for it to not look exactly like a human. He says they added the sloppy halo around the hologram, and made it smaller than life size, so that people would be aware that that's a hologram and not a real person.
Could be a bunch of bull though...

Argh! It's not a hologram... What they used was a tomogram, some decent real-time software, and a bad insert.

A hologram would have meant that they could actually see her in the studio, and they were filming a projection of light... which they weren't at any point in time. Hence the need to add the flickers and halo... Which you still are unlikely to get with modern holography.
