HG: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you?

ME: I have had intermittent site issues for the last month with my sites constantly going down. Ive entered multiple support tickets and the support always looks into it, says their are abusive users on the server and they will handle it and then the problem happens again. I cant have my sites constantly going down. Before this past month I have NEVER had a problem with your service.

HG: Right due to the fact that you are on a shared server and people use the same server we can not control if some one has an open script.

HG: We suspend the person that breaks this rule.

HG: The only way to prevent this is to get a dedicated server.

ME: you have a 99.9% uptime guarantee

ME: can we fix this issue as ive loved your service before this ongoing problem

HG: Not really much i can do.

Yeah I've had experiences like this in the past with Host Gator, I truly & highly :rasta: recommend Inmotion Hosting. If you choose to sign up I'll kick you half of my commission.

I didn't have much luck with HostGator when I had a dedicated box with them. There were dozens of times I couldn't access my sites. I'd call a few friends in other states (I'm in the U.S.) to check if they could access them. They couldn't.

So, I'd call HostGator. With the exception of a few times, they'd always say my sites were accessible on their end. When pressed, they couldn't offer an explanation, but promised to look into the problem. Several hours later, I'd get an email saying my box was accessible again. No explanation.

Finally, I moved my box to LiquidWeb (fantastic support, by the way).

Some people seem to have great luck with HostGator. I envy them.

On a host of their size, they should have measures in place to prevent individual users from using up the full resources of the server, or at least have measures to disable those sites when they do hit a certain threshold.

hostgator suck donkeys.

and they stiff their affiliates any chance they get. I LOVE seeing newbs trying to ramp them, thinking of all their juicy 100 buck commissions. Until they decide you are costing too much, and they decide to 'reclaim' it all by stiffing you out of your biggest month's earnings.

They are happy to keep the customers, of course.

Seriously, why the hell anyone bothers with hostgator I will never know. Even hostmonster or crappy services like that are better.

O.P. - you got lucky. At least your 'support' person had a few words of 'eeengleeeesh'.

I have 3 accounts with HG and have usually found their uptime and support overall a little better than other hosts I use such as HostMonster or DreamHost (which I despise).

Once, my site was experiencing an average of 4 1/2 hours of down time a week, for 3 weeks straight. Support wasn't doing much, stating they would have it fixed and that it was someone else on the server. It got to a point where I simply demanded they move all my sites to another shared box. They did it, and everything went back to working fine.

This is quite upsetting. I've been having serious load time issues with some of my sites as well on Hostgator and they told me that they couldn't do anything because they couldn't replicate the problem... said the sites loaded fine for them.

I am having the same issue. Have done multiple support tix, lots of phone conversations and a few hours of bitching. They claim it is isolated.

One word of recommendation, find out your server name, such as Gator 15X, and then when you start the call or IM session, reference it. It does help get the server up quicker, even though it is a royal pain in the ass.

I am about to switch out I think even though up to 2 months ago they have been great.

only had one prob with hostgator when i tried to run like 100 autoblogs on it
nickycakes.com has been running on hostgator for a while with no problems

overall pretty happy with them for the price

I have been running with them for 3 years (HAPPILY I MAY ADD) before this problem.
