I love this place been here almost 8 years. Its a shame to see wf only get a couple of posts a day now.

Then make some intriguing / informative posts.

Sitting around bitching probably won't solve much though.

Only thing that kept it live last year was... the Gruster civil case.

Only thing that will save it is... a federal Gruster indictment.

How about getting some big players in the seo/marketing world in for Q/A sessions so we can pick their brains and get some real info that will make a difference? Let them open a thread introducing themselves and let us ask questions (make it professional so any asswipes asking dumb questions get deleted). Keep the thread open for a week. Rinse and repeat.

Surely Jon and other members have big contacts that would be willing to share some time?

Anyone got Matt Cutts number :D

Honestly, I think a shift from 99% affiliate marketing thinking over to more tangible business creation and entrepreneurship could really bring the forum back to life.

Not hatin' on AM, but let's be honest - there are many other ways to make some SERIOUS bank and build a real business online with these days. Most of the guys that were largely active here back in the day learned this and moved away from doing AM. They launched real products and services on their own. Me included. But I still have a soft spot for WF and would love to see the place become the hustlin' bustlin' place it used to be. Not just for STS and lawsuit threads. But a place to learn and teach others (like it used to be).

What changed my own mindset was after reading "The Millionaire Fastlane" by MJ DeMarco. It's an eye opening book that will make you want to kick yourself for not seeing the light sooner.

I've promised I will make a big thread again here soon and I will. But it won't be in the "Affiliate Marketing" section, and it's not really STS material. Have the mods considered restructuring the sections on the site a bit to adapt to a more general entrepreneurial audience?

Would love to get some crowdfunding advice from you since you have experience with it. dammit clicked dislike and like by mistake

Been here for almost 4 years = recent member and I've got to say, I have a solid percentage of clients getting my contact details from here. So to me it looks like the forum is not active, but there are plenty of lurkers.

Agree...I don't think it would take too much restructuring, although that would probably help... but also more of a shift in the ethos of members. There is plenty to talk about in business development without publishing seo secrets or leaking hawt traffic sources.

Products & Merchants for example...since it's under Affiliate Marketing, it's implied to be for product owners using an affiliate model to drive sales but as ImagesAndWords said there are a lot of people outside the affiliate game for whom that subforum isn't directly applicable.

Maybe a forum for something like lean startups, product development, business strategy, or something of the sort? Just thinking aloud.

I'm as guilty as the next guy for not posting more of substance and/or asking more pointed questions when I have them in these areas. Duly noted.

This indeed.

Here's an idea: Let's ask Shoemoney to do an AMA...oh nevermind that would only make things worse.

Maybe BRC can do an AMA that would be interesting.

Lack of mods.

Lack of shit giving by Jon (which is probably busy managing xx other businesses so can't really blame him).

I think this forum started to tank after the first Penguin update. A good portion of members got severely hit, to the point where they moved on to other ventures (or went back to 9 to 5). From what I see on SEMrush, wickedfire.com was also hit pretty hard by Penguin and lost tons of organic traffic it seems.

Some reputable members also got older so naturally their priorities changed. You're not going to be spending too much time on a gay webmaster forum when you're in your forties and have a family/kids to take care of.

I totally failed in IM and now just do video editing and some graphics stuff online part time mostly for other people in IM. WF is mostly my version of reddit.

So you're more successful than 80% of people who are aware you can make money online. Tell me again how you've failed in IM.

I also get quite a few clients that seek me out from here even when I haven't had an active sales thread for months. Lots of lurkers for sure.

I think this is probably one of the biggest factors, along with the evolution of the industry. Look at the bst, back in the day people could buy any service make a quick buck, churn and burn. Now the services don't seem to get as much love as the easy money is gone.

People are always talkative when the money is coming in, and sharing info for that matter, but once the easy money is gone the secrets become a lot more valuable and less sharing.

I do thank the guys who have made it what it is, or was, because some people put a lot of effort into sharing ( enlightened posts ) but the amount of info that can really make money is not shared as much and for good reason.
