I'm putting together some a time management course, and I was stumped as to how Americans tell the time...

Which one is more applicable?

4:30 PM or 16:30?

I'm talking about the average American here btw.

I'm firmly fixated in the digital era so I personally use digital only, but I wasn't sure, and I don't want to use anything the average person wouldn't understand. I tried using Google but I didn't get any conclusive answers.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If it's day time...

1. Plant a stick in the ground during daylight.
2. Mark the position of the tip of the stick's shadow.
3. Incrementally repeat every 30 minutes-ish.
4. Repeat until dinner.

or, if it's night time we..

1. Plant a stick in the ground during night.
2. Lay down, head underneath the stick so that we can see the tip of the stick slanting overhead when looking up.
3. Find a star and match it with the tip of the stick.
4. The direction the star is moving over time will be West.

wait...wat...

I think it really matters on sexual preference. I'll use an example; my last boyfriend was a closet homosexual so he always preferred to use military time (I think he thought this was more alpha and less a faggot) However, I have noticed my straight up openly gay partners don't like military and prefer the standard faggot time.

But srs' why don't you split test? That's probably the best way to find out if you think it's this critical of a thing.

In America all time is 16:30.

A "nine to five" in America means 16:30 to 16:30.

I think you mean; "In America it's 16:30 all the time."

Thanks for all the trolling though, sorry to be the spoiler of good fun - it's just not working.

Yes, you got me... I really needed my grammar corrected by a guy who doesn't even know how Americans tell time.

I mean, it's not like there are different types of syntax...

Also, if you're going to be a grammar Nazi you can at least do it right; your "correction" should read, "In America it's 16:30 all of the time.".

Who ever says that we use military time are trolling you. The average American can't read military time. They normally have to ask someone or look it up. Go with 4:30PM and you'll be safer, but have the option for using military time as well. If you do both then you have everything covered, because some companies will want it.

I am putting together a common sense 101 course and was stumped at how idiots search for information.

Which one is more applicable?

Search STS at wickedfire or search google?

I'm talking about the average idiot here btw.

I'm firmly fixated in only doing things that make sense, but I wasn't sure, and I don't want to use anything the average idiot wouldn't understand. I tried using my butthole but I didn't get any conclusive answers.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Let me google that for you

As an american, the epitome of "normal" time would be 4:30.
And as the aforementioned user said, hes right. Most americans can't
read military time.
