How do I host a downloadable product?

If your selling a downloadable product, what is the procedure for allowing the "paid" customer access to the file. When I bought the master reseller rights, I paid for it, received an email with a link to "download" the files.

Also, the 'link' the seller provided stated it would expire after 3 download attempts or in "x" amount of hours.

I'm new to all this and am trying to understand how do I set up a similar system?

Obviously, I want them to buy it, send them a receipt (via; autoresponder) in an email with a link for them to access to download, but my confusion is "where do I store/host" the 'product file(s)' so they can download them?

I'm guessing a database, but still don't understand how this works.

E-junkie is the best way. But if you want to put that file in your very OWN website to tell your customers that you "Own" the product then the best way is to us FileZilla. Create a page and use filezilla to upload the Files. Your files will be uploaded in your own hosting company. This is the hard way but I do this to make sure that the file is only in my site.

If you're new get to understand and compare.

Hosting the file yourself vs E-Junkie hosting it for you.

Hope that helps and doesn't give you any confusion:)

Unfortunately, a bit of both: new and confused...lol.

Definitely pursuing hosting the files myself, but for now e-junkie will do. There's an overwhelming amount of stuff i'm trying to learn concerning code (html, css, mysql, and php) -I think once I can appropriate assembling the code and better understanding of uploading file transfers...I'll b jammin'

:thumbsup:Thanks

eJunkie will be your best bet to begin with. You can still host your files on your own site. You do not have to put it up on their site. Here's an excerpt from eJunkie:

Store your files securely on our server, or store them remotely on your own server:
Either way, our system automatically issues each buyer their own unique, secure and expirable download link to obtain an exact copy of your file after their payment is confirmed as complete.

I suggest using eJunkie when first starting out since they generate random expiring links so that people are unable to share your download link with others. This helps to cut down the possibility of people downloading your stuff for free.

I'm gonna use e-Junkie until my 'tech skills' permit me to use filezilla or even WP. My only other concern is that since my "product-line" will be mostly Master Reseller Right type products, I am concerned for hidden backlinks to the site(s) in which I purchase these items.

I'm new to all this, and in a single purchase realized the mistakes made by the person whom I purchased my first MRR item from...he/she slipped and allowed me to find their direct source in a 'backlink'. IMO doing so automatically cost him/her future sales, as I went direct to the source.

It amazes me how much work goes into all this, but what the hell I'm a work-a-holic:glowingeyes_sml:

Thanks all
