- Buy a whois data account. some sites sell these, success rate of like 5%. they scrape all new domains and store whois history before its set to private. waste of $ usually.
- try emailing admin@ help@ support@ info@domain.com and see if you can find any valid ones
if none of that works. you're fucked!
Can you post here what you got from shawnhag? This might help someone and looking to add some info in my thick skull so I'll know what to do if I buy some christmas domains by mid feb next year..all the information I can dig up it about me lol, I will pm shawnhag and see

+ look for contact us/about us page. Most established sites has this page. For more in dept search try to scrapebox (page search) the pages and see if something like contact or about us page exist on the sitemap.
+ add to the email list contact@, administrator@
