I was curious if anyone could enlighten me on this before I purchased an international domain - tonga for $50/year.
Currently I have a site called niche.org. Its in the process of development and its main goal is along the lines of the 100k/year directory service. In my city, Toronto, there is a site called dine.TO.
If i were to buy niche.TO, is there any chance I could be sued for any sort of infringement or copyrights since their site is along the lines of a directory as well? My logo would incorporate the CN Tower as one of the letters as well, but not the letter "i".
Ex/ niche.TO would be nic(CN tower)e.TO instead (obviously not the case of any "h" in reality".
I'm confident that although they are kinda branded in my city for the .TO domain (representing the city of Toronto for the TO part), they can't sue for anything related to the .TO portion since its equivalent to a .com or .us, etc. correct?
with that side, if I were to use a different font for the logo, coupled with vector of the CN Tower in the word somewhere, and have it end in .TO would I chance in getting in any trouble at all?
Any suggestions on this would be AWESOME. I dont want to start developing the site until I have this clear so I wont have to migrate it to a new domain if this idea is safe, so any clarifications will help a lot!
thanks!
