how do you assign your header tags?

I'm currently using h1 only for my blog title, and h2 (post titles), h3, h4 and h5 for posts. Now however I'm changing posts titles to h1 and will only use h2, h3 and h4 for headings in posts.

That way I'll have multiple h1 tags (blog title and post titles) and I'm not sure if that will have a negative effect regarding SEO. Has it?

On my homepage, category, or archive pages. I have the title of the page in a <h1> but in my single post and pages. I have the title of the post in the <h1> format. IMO its beneficial to have only 1 <h1> tag and then the subheadings degrade down <h2><h3> etc

I don't see any harm doing that, I use the same in my Wordpress site and uptil now it works fine.
