Not in IM, but say you had an idea to create a site that could possibly be as popular as twitter. How would you make it publically known enough so that someone else wouldn't stand a chance at trying to create something similair? I know its fair for them to try, but say you have a genuinelly unique idea and don't won't that to happen just yet and at least want the attention (profit) you deserve before other competitors could even try to succeed?

Guess what I'm asking is how do you make an awesome website without people trying to steal that idea because you don't have the budget or just too stupid to get that far at this point? I'm not saying I couldn't handle this, just want to know what you could do to prevent someone from doing something like you are? There's plenty of AMs that copy peoples shit all the time, is this the same case? Just accept it? Is what it is? Social Darwanism? Do your best and that's it?

Oh well, I'm drunk, here's some titties.
Actually, it occurs that I'm too drunk to do add titties on my phone..maybe ill post some tomorrow?

I would say that if the idea is good enough it would all depend on how the initial marketing went. If you could get it to go viral the way Facebook started out, people wouldn't have time to copy the idea successfully.

Bummer. It's not always fair.

Sitting here asking about it isn't going to do you any good. You should be researching the VPP (Viral Protection Plan)

No shits it's not fair, otherwise we would all live in china. Thanks for the tip, though! And trust me, research will be done indefinitely.

If it's really that awesome and unique, you don't have to worry about anyone jacking it. Everyone will just dismiss it/talk shit about it until its a hit, then they'll all talk about how they had the idea first.
