so you have a product, but no site ... how long does it take you to whip something together?

and more importanly .. what are u using to do it?

Depends on the product and method of approach. If its something that would work in a blog you could set something up in Wordpress in under 10 minutes if you already got a theme and plugins picked out and already know what to say about the product.

If a landing page, simple ones can take 5 minutes, but good ones can be obtained from a designer in less than a day and sometimes coded in less than an hour if you're a coder yourself.

Far as what to use... I'm typically using photoshop (for coding the parts and such I get from a designer), and coda and/or komodo for the coding IDE (both are pretty much 100% codeview, I don't deal with WYSIWYG). And course yummyFTP + textwrangler for quick writeups.

... I guess you could be more specific...

Since i know how to code and mostly know how I want my landing pages, I use

Project Deploy* | Choose, Bookmark, Deploy

to get the basic html made within a few seconds. From there its just about the level of detail I want in a landing page and about how much content i want to integrate.

Can range from 1 hr to tens of hours. Really depends!

i gotta try wordpress out ... is that any good? is it easy to use?

*facepalm*

Lol,

What amazes me is that they found this forum and made a post and still do not know what wordpress is.

Ok man here is what you do.

1. Get a domain name if you do not have one. I recommend namecheap for their free whios protection.

2. Get hosting. I recommend Hostgator because fantastico makes installing wordpress easy. Wordpress.org boast about a 5 min install but with hostgator its 5 sec.

3. Go to Wordpress Extended and get some great themes and plugins.

4. Sell some eBay stuff on your blog so get signed up with eBay's affiliate program.

5. Go over to phpBay and get the eBay affiliate plugin for wordpress.

And finally create some reviews for your eBay pages by getting the WFReview plugin.

1nspire you've been here since May and you don't know better than that?

Anyhoo, in response to the OP, my lack of technical skills compiled with my perfectionism means even the simplest sites probably take me a lot longer than most of the folks here. But it really does payoff to have a nice looking site with easy navigation. My bounce rates are da bomb.

Thanks - I didn't know until I saw this post that Namecheap doesn't have an affiliate program.

I could probably create sites much faster if I didn't start playing Spider Solitaire every 20 minutes or so...
