Iowa; planning on a move soon
I am launching a niche business that involves creating products and consulting to clients.

I will have month to month recurring costs and then yearly opt ins for a savings.

My question is what do you think I should set as a trial basis?

Should I offer something completely for free whether they decide to stick with the membership?

And If I do a trial; Should I do it for a few days? a week? One Month?

Thoughts?

Depends on the product, doesn't it?
If I were deciding, I'd want a trial which gives me time to evaluate it convincingly. If I'm seeing convincing results in 7 days, then 7 days is enough. Truly depends on what the product is, though.

Don't know what your payment model is, but a slight (but increasingly common) spin on the trial period model is to get CC/payment details BEFORE the trial period starts, and then tell them you'll assume they're going to go ahead with their subscription unless they notify you otherwise. So, more of a free-first-month than a trial period, but it raises the percentage of conversions, partially by discouraging the curious nobodies (who have no intention of paying for the service) from signing up.

Its good in a way!! but no one in the world would want their CC to be charged automatically unless its a highly useful product. I prefer paying every month manually rather than automatic payments. :anon.sml:

Everyone has made some valid points....

I think I will do a mixture. Like first 7 days free but get their CC info first.

Im like Abby. I think my product is really useful but the product is content that would be customized for each person.

Anybody else got any ideas?
