How many pages can I have on the first page of google?

I know that Google changed their algorithm to allow multiple pages to be listed in the SERPs from your domain, but how many pages can you have on the first page?

example:

  1. domain.com/sales
  2. domain.com/about-us
  3. domain.com/contact-us
 


I have had all ten for my name, for Teambox and for five previous clients. It gets tough if you use social media tools for companies or personal branding as you get twitter, facebook and linkedin stealing your thunder. Also, press releases and other writeups from strong sites can take them away.

If you are talking longtail, it still can be challenging as one good content page can nab one of your spots.

That said, it can be all 10 as 1nspire mentions, it just ain't easy.
 
It's really up to you, but if in order to get more than 3+ probably means the search query isn't worth the time or effort.
