How many years did it take to pay off student debt

I still have to attain my high school diploma first, before I can worry about amassing college / university debt. I'm 30, so ain't happening in this lifetime. 
Have my 12 years, but Canadian govt won't recognize the last two because they were done out of country. Cunts. Tried to go back a few times, but only lasted a week or two each time, before I realized "fuck, is this ever a waste of time", and dropped out. This whole self-learning thing seems to have worked fine for me though, and it's free!
