OK, so I've been doing The Challenge for a little bit, and I'm almost done with module 4 (for those who know the stages).
I know The Challenge is kinda hated on here, so sorry for using it. FTR I did read a lot of the criticisms, and I have a few of my own, but at least I'm learning some basics and taking some action.
Anyway...I started looking around random keywords, and have been finding some sites that look like they were built using "The Challenge" types of strategies. For example, see Kidney Stones Symptoms | Signs of Kidney Stones (no not my URL).
It ranks #3 result for keyword kidney stones symptoms. Lookin at it in MarketSamurai's SEO competition page, I see that it has
domain age: 5
pagerank: 3
index count: 10
page backlinks: 93
domain backlinks: 107
edu/gov backlinks: 0
dmoz directory: no
yahoo directory: no
keyword in title/url: yes/yes
...
So my question is, what here causes this page to be PageRank 3? I know, 3 is not really high, but a site with 10 pages indexed seems pretty unauthoritative to me...
Also, how can you estimate number of visitors to a site? I know, its not my site, so...not easy. I guess it seems to matter a bit to me because I'm looking to guestimate how profitable "shitty" sites like this can be...
website statbrain.com says that kidney site gets 4500 visits per day.
Any other way of learning about this random domain/site/business would be helpful, so to help more with my understanding of the internet game.
Also, I've read from random hearsay in different places that #1 ranked site gets about 40% of clicks. Where does this come from? And is there a breakdown of like #2 result get 20% of clicks and so on down the first page?
Thanks for helpin the newest newbie on here
