I just remembered (today) that I have a list of 2-3 million email addresses I've been collecting over time (3 years about) from one of my greeting card site tell-a-friend forms.

How do you suggest I make money out of this?

I'd recommend working with an email list management company to email the data for you. They'll pay you 50% of the net revenue generated. There are numerous very reputable list managers in the space.

If you have the capabilities of mailing in house, you should do that as well. However, if it's not a core competency of yours, I'd recommend third party list managers. Those companies dedicate all their time to getting mail through to isp's and probably can generate more than you can.

Yeah but the problem with a lot of those is that they need proof that the user joined and confirmed their email addresses. All of those only checked a box that said "I want to receive your newsletter"... so maybe a private solution would be better.

Do you have the ip and time/date on each user?

if you set up the emails as a newsletter, you will have more flexibility on the type of offers you can promote Eg: banner ads that usually are not allowed to be emailed, can be sent in a newsletter most of the time. (or atleast be directed to a website that has the banner ad)
