Hey guys,

There is always so many questions popping up here about how to build an email list so I figured that I would do my part in helping out by posting this up.

I just uploaded a video interview with Andrew Warner.

Andrew started a company called Bradford & Reid. His company built an email list of 23 Million+ subscribers. It was a simple joke of the day newsletter that sent out jokes and greeting cards. From this 23 Million+ list his company was generating over $30 Million dollars per year in affiliate & advertising revenue.

He eventually sold off his company and started Mixergy.com where he interviews successful entrepreneurs. He has interviewed over 300+ successful entrepreneurs so I was excited to talk with him about what highly successful entrepreneurs have in common, and of couse, how he built a 23 Million+ person mailing list!

Ha - That's exactly what I was thinking - it takes the people that have ideas that others haven't thought about yet. Try to grow your list today with greeting cards :P.

I do like how he pointed out to have 'em sign up as part of a process. Now the only problem is to yet again come up with that great idea for a web app or whatever to get traffic there in the first place.
 
Sean, really digging your site so far. Normally the new people who come here pimping their sites (especially newer members) have garbage content. Keep up the good work.

Hey Nvan, thanks!

I'm not really trying to pimp out my site. I've been getting such good feedback on the interviews I decided to start sharing the odd relevant one here.

I've been a long time reader of this forum. I've used it to help build my businesses (especially the affiliate part) so this is a way to give back.

Sounds cheesy but it seems to be working. :)
 
great interview...

so Andrew was just doing co-reg between his own different joke/card lists?
and his best results were from licensing out the opt-in system to different sites....then i guess paying sites to use the system was the next best thing :D
 
First half was great, second half just digressed (skimmed it).. Would be great if next time you could ask about maintaining operations/technical aspects. Haven't done mailing myself, so was more curious about how he handled a list that large (applications, spam complaints, etc.).

Good interview though!

He used dedicated servers and 24/7 email software.
