Not the home poker game with pizza and beer. Real games where you need to give a special knock to get in. My nearest casino is 3 hours in both directions (Mohegan/AC).

I'm in Long Island if anyone wants to PM. This post is for educational purposes only, obviously.

try searching on poker forums (2p2/ftr) and even facebook, there are some groups where people get invited so if you dont have the social circle and want to find a game it can really help.

You're in New York, shit man. There are games everywhere!

Chesterfield Club
Teddy KGB's club
The golf pro game
The game with the Greeks
The cigar shop game
The frat boy game outside the city

The best one is this place with a bunch of municipal workers outside of Binghamton

Play local regularly. Get to know other players, make connections, get a good rep, get invited. That's been my experience.

It's all about the hustle and networking man, you'll have to go do your time.

lol you gotta ask around basically. Also some bars maybe have free games where you don't play for money but get in those and talk to the players and they may know of real games.

Ask around here for a start.

If you're likeable and meh when it comes to poker you'll have no problem being invited to home games. If you're any good keep the people you're playing entertained, sounds obvious but it's worth mentioning.

LOL, then you're probably not ready for high stakes.

Not trying to be rude, just saying many of the guys that play high stakes are sharks...

I'm looking for 1/2 or 2/5 for now, or even some tourney action, nothing major. yet.

and driving 3+ hours to a casino is getting old.
