How to generate hundreds of longtail keywords?

I am an absolute noob Affiliate Marketer and have had some mild success with Maxbounty with zip / email submit offers..

I am trying my hand at teeth whitening and lost quite a bit using Adwords... :eek: over the past month.

I think I paid out about $40. But then again, that lost $40 bought me a few lessons in this game (All newbie related, yes, like poorly designed landing pages, ad copy, don't pay $0.80 per click :/ etc etc... )

Anyway I got some excellent advice from Jon yesterday, and he gave me some invaluable information such as to use long tail keywords. Within a few hours of writing my own longtail keywords that I thought people would type in google to find I had about 142 of them). I woke up to look at my stats... Fuck Me :bowdown:I made $186 - $19 adwords = $167 profit litterally overnight.

My question now is, Is it possible to generate hundreds of these longtail keywords?

I can write them myself, but it takes a good few hours.

Yeah, I probably am but whatever... Up to $241 so far :D

I am just after reading shoe's blog and he says the exact same thing about longtails. Supposedly it's not that big of a secret, everyone know's he is the ringtone king so iv'e heard, so everyone must be using his ideas... and gaming his market...??
 
Are you using your own landing page or are you driving the traffic straight to the merchant? Also, are you running the crest zip/email submit offer? :)
 
What is an example of a long tailed keyword/phrase you used?
How did you, personally, create your list without software - ie, did you use buy/review keywords, location keywords?

Congrats on the success.

I can't give an example sorry... but they had between three and six words in them, most were closely related, I just changed certain words.

I only used the adwords tool to find some generic terms... that and my brain. I just tried to think like the person who was looking for the product and what they would search for.

Now take that list and start throwing in typos. This tool works great for generating that list Typo Generator

EDIT: You also might want to look at HitTail - Free Long Tail Search Tool ~ this will show you what keywords are being typed in if you are using a broad match. I've almost doubled some of my lists after seeing narrowing down what was being searched for a broad match on some keywords.

Not only are the tools cool, but the people who make those tools are cool too. Let me tell you, they care about every person who is generous enough to take a look at them, and go as far as to drop into every last affliliate forum to personally thank them.

Usually, after noticing a posted link, they resist the temptation to comment right away, instead standing by to see if the follow-up posts are positive, so objectivity is maintained. When they are, they humbly ask whether they can answer any questions, since marketing in the long tail is often such a difficult concept.

Here are my stats from HitTail.com on aojon.com. I've been using it since October 2006.

Top ten keywords are 48.1% of all your search traffic.
Long tail keywords are 51.9% of all your search traffic.
Total unique keywords collected: 968

Your on the right track. It sounds like the only thing your missing is quantity. 10k is great, but most of the bigger guys need 5-10 adwords accounts to house the amount of keywords we want. Shoot me a PM and we can talk more.

After a sufficient period of time, HitTail will produce a long longtail keyword list for you. It's not instant, and it's not aggregated from anyone elses' sites. But you get two lists: one which is the entire list of keywords already leading to your site naturally, and a second which are the HitTail suggestions, where you should be performing better. Either list can be plowed into a PPC campaign with excellent results.
