I want to be an affiliate of Amazon.com Program to make some extra money. I plant to build websites to promote Amazon products and get commission.

Can you please guide me briefly, the procedure and practical step required to get approved by Amazon.

Here's some reasons why amazon is still the boss when it comes to physical product affilaites

  • Amazon is a trusted brand – everyone knows Amazon. If someone were going to buy online, Amazon would have to be one of the safest options. Ebay is going down and we all know it

  • Commissions on higher value products – while 4% on a book isn’t a high commission, if you promote a high value product (like a camera) the commission can be decent.

  • People buy more than one item at a time – when you send someone to Amazon you earn a commission on whatever they buy, whether they end up buying what you sent them to or not. Many people load up their cart with numerous items so commissions can add up.

  • Easy integration – Amazon provides some good tools and widgets to help you integrate the sales channel into your website.

  • Holidays are boom times – Amazon runs some good seasonal sales. Thanksgiving to Christmas can be a particularly profitable time to promote.

  • Amazon has a wide array of products – Amazon is so much more than books these days. There are so many promotional options that most niches would probably find something relevant to their audience.

Create a good website with good amounts of articles and then apply. In this day in age you have to conduct your own test, to find more profitable niches.

I can tell you electronics is a difficult nut to crack wide open, and you also have limitations in earning potential.

After building the site you have to decide what type of seo stuff you need for ranking. You have to approach this stuff like a business, for the days of quick ranking and earnings are now slowly behind us.

You can make BANK with the right strategy, but you'll need to make several large deposits into the venture before you start withdrawing funds.

Keep in mind, with Amazon, the commission rates are (mostly) between 4-8%. That's a measly $4-8 per every $100 worth of items moved. Not exactly riches.

The only way you're going to make decent money through Amazon is by promoting something you can sell in enormous bulk, or by promoting high-end products, at least in the hundreds, although preferably in the thousands.

That's the bad news.

The good news is, since Amazon sells nearly everything on God's green Earth, there's plenty to choose from: Jewelry, electronics, industrial equipment, collectables, etc.

Since the world, including the Internet, is full of rich assholes with money to burn, there's always a market, regardless of the price. Sure, I would never buy a $65,000 Hobart dish-washing machine, but there are people who would, will, and have.

Just make sure your site provides extra value beyond a generic bridge page linking to Amazon. Give both people and search engines a reason to prefer your site over competitors' sites.
