So anyways, a domain name came up for sale on Tdnam.com, and I grabbed it. It currently has a PR 4 and the domain name was first registered in April of 2001. It has a handful of pretty strong links pointing at the site, so I believe that it will maintain its PR ranking. The domain kind of sounds like a digital camera site, but it will actually a newsletter site for union workers or something.

Anyways, given the PR and age of the domain, I think that I can make money with it, but I am wondering the best way to go about it.

First question is, should I put Text Link Ads on the site?

Second question is, so I turn the site into a blog of some sort or just have a simple couple page site with Adsense and Text Link Ads?

Think of your new domain as a house.

You're going to have to live inside this domain.

What kind of a house would you want to live in?

If this domain is like a house, then it's a rental house.

I'm not going to live in it; I want to extract as much income as possible out of it.

Hi, Sysdomatic,

1.) Why not? Text link ads or adsense (adsense probably beats the TLA in first couple of weeks but it depends on topic);
2.) Do it. Anyway, first of all, implememnt some Google analytics or any other analytics software for couple of days. You´ll see what keywords the particular pages attract via search engines. Also check what backlicks your new domain (I mean each page of it) is getting. Based on the above findings you can start to create the blog content.

Hi there.

I paid $54 for the domain.

I've been doing affiliate marketing for almost ten years now (started in '98) but I don't have any experience with Text Link Ads.

When people buy links via Text Link Ads, are they mainly looking at the page rank of the site or the Alexa ranking?

Check out PPC-sites and Why park from my autosig(note: I am an affiliate). Also the other firm I work with. If you want to throw some ideas around regarding marketing, let me know via PM.

Good luck....
