Let's say 5 hours a day for 2 years, only 5 days a week. That's 2600 hours he spent to own a Boxter (worth $9,000). 2600 / $9000 = 28 cents an hour.

Wouldn't exactly call this a success ;)

He did something he enjoyed doing so it wasn't really work, it was leisure time like playing videogames or watching TV. I love surfing craigslist for random shit I don't need or won't buy.

Uh, I wouldn't say 20-40k in repairs. Boxster's are the low end model, and have poor resale value.

Exactly.

He could have almost $26,000 just working close to min wage over the last 2+ yrs.
