FTA: In 2006 I got a phone call from one of my model airplane sponsors that they were working on a secret project, and that they wanted to take model aviation to the small screen. It wasn’t just an informational phone call, they were looking an ambassador. I’ve never had a giant sense of pride, self, or dignity, so I thought, “Why not announce to the whole world that I’m a giant nerd, love model airplanes, and ham it up a little bit in the process?”

Master Of Champions was formerly a Japanese reality TV Show where people with extraordinary albeit unlike talents competed against each other in a talent show style format for a panel of 3 judges, all experts in their own unlike talents. America’s panel featured baseball player Steve Garvey, Oxana Baiul of Ice Skating fame, and olympian Jonny Mosely.

Now, I never purported to be the best model airplane pilot in the world. In fact, I am (and was) a hack compared to the guys (and girls) who spend hours a day honing their craft. I was just benefitting from some good marketing, and spent a great deal of time honing a type of flying that a lot of the ‘more serious’ pilots had been ignoring: Indoor flying.

I do ho my sites on here, but I really think they are related to what we do. I frequently write about marketing, out of the box thinking and the like. What's wrong with that?

That's pretty awesome bro, and worth plugging. I digg it!

I just skimmed over the entire thing, can you break down how you lied to get on the show? You knew a guy who was on the show and just wanted to to be on it also? So you both lied that you were better than you were? I don't get it.
