Hi,

I don't know if this has happened to anyone here but what do you do to protect yourself from someone spamming your affiliate link with a bot?

Someone got my tracking202 link a month back through a campaign and spammed the crap out of it, so much that i had to take down the tracking202 domain and my campaign. I'm guessing it was an affiliate who wasn't too happy with me competing with them on a lesser known traffic source.

Anyways, i'm about to start this campaign up again on this said traffic source and i was wondering if anybody knows any codes i can put in my .htaccess to avoid someone spamming my link with a bot. Would putting in a code to block all traffic except for users with specific referrers be enough to safeguard against this?

thanks

If the bot is come from a single IP address, you can simply add:

deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (replace the xxxs with his IP)

to the top of your .htaccess to keep him off.

Lookup the "deny from" statement because there's some more flexibility to it.
