HUGE explosion in Tianjin, China

Pretty crazy shit, first cameraman died on this one. He used an app that uploads instantly when you let go of record.

Not to mention any long-term health consequences that may occur. Who knows what chemicals blew up, but judging from the explosion, I'm assuming they're chemicals you don't want to be breathing in for several days or more.

Oh, according to CNN one of the chemicals was sodium cyanide, and according to the CDC sodium cyanide:

CDC - The Emergency Response Safety and Health Database: Systemic Agent: SODIUM CYANIDE - NIOSH

Sodium cyanide releases hydrogen cyanide gas, a highly toxic chemical asphyxiant that interferes with the body's ability to use oxygen. Exposure to sodium cyanide can be rapidly fatal. It has whole-body (systemic) effects, particularly affecting those organ systems most sensitive to low oxygen levels: the central nervous system (brain), the cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels), and the pulmonary system (lungs)

Lovely. Aside from that, appears what chemicals blew is a "hush, hush" right now.

You know it was bad when the people miles away can't even fit the entire explosion on video!!

One of the first things I noticed was the incredibly low death toll, relative to the size of the blasts. It never crossed my mind China might be lying. Sneaky Asian bastards.

This is one of those things that just has my heart racing. It is just an incredible sight to see, such a huge explosion.

Ya really have to feel for those anywhere near the blast. The death toll is going to be huge.

the explosion happened at about 11:30 pm local time, besides some factories that area is mostly cars and shipping containers, . the death toll may increase some more naturally, but this is why it is lower than you would expect.

different angle. seems like those apartment buildings were just far enough away not to have got heavy damage. i would guess most injuries in those apartments are from flying glass.
