ya thats right, i got informed today that they will be letting me go. I was a programmer at a bank. They told me "due to the current restraints on the financial industry" yada yada yada "your last day is Nov 6th" bastards.

Oh well, it gives me time to learn more about affiliate marketing and hopefully how it's done right.

I'm curious to what others tend to do when they are fired from there jobs.. Does it tend to lead to successful projects or websites?

Sorry to hear it. Read the Wickedfire archives and work your ass off. Hopefully good things will come out of this.

I take it you work for chase. Today was blood bath day at chase for a lot of people.

Youll be better off. Sometimes it takes something like this to push you to the next level.

You're a programmer. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Everything happens for a reason, I lost my job and was just trying to make money while i was on EI, I ended up making a really successful poker company out of being bored from not working.. Just remember that everything happens for a reason and if your positive you will make the most of it :)

1. Don't sign the severance package.
2. Get a good lawyer to go over the package with a fine-toothed comb.

I didn't say he should be programming for others. Though I'd trade an entire country of $1.50/hour coders that give me absolute crap for one in the US that works at a decent wage, at decent speed, and gives quality.

(and I'm sure there's good coders in India, but this is more of a general statement about the shitty quality that comes from outsourcing)

Oh I completely agree with your statement. I am not an advocate of all the outsourcing to India at all. I am not a programmer but I feel sorry that a lot of these guys are losing their jobs (not the case in this situation) to half wit teams of Indian coders who will work for $150 a month.

First things first - APPLY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT, milk those bastards. Based on the reasoning for why you were fired, you should be eligible. Free monies that can be used toward PPC campaigns : ]

I got laid off from some crappy $9/hour job when I was 16 and even I applied and was approved.

Good luck!

There is a scene from Fight Club that you should watch again.........

But seriously, sorry to hear that.

Here's what I would do...

1 bottle Rum
2 litre coke
Biggest porterhouse the supermarket has for sale
Favorite munchie snacks x 2 bags
Favorite trilogy/saga (godfather, star wars, LOTR, Rocky)

Start tonight, watch entire series before passing out/going to bed, sleep in, go to work when you want to, wear jeans. Take massive amounts of office supplies/tech equipment with you when you go home.

While at work, just drop affiliate links in forum sigs/build sites, etc.

Dude, sorry to hear it. Look at it as a positive instead of a negative and this could be a life changing (for the better) experience. Just work on affiliate marketing and I'm sure you can blow away what you were making at the bank.

Steal their entire database of people that hold mortgages with that particular bank... Sell entire database to a competitor that can offer them a better refi

Make bank
Buy me a Ferrari for the idea
:P

Oh wow would that really not help the OP out. Steal that which will not be missed, not the #1 thing that will get the bank sued and you sent to federal PMITA prison for 30 years.

Damn good advice.

After being finally fired, work harder than ever.
