Well here's my lame deal. I went to buy a TV from Sears and got totally shafted by them. Its a way long and drawn out story to be honest and if you like you can read about it here on my blog.

I was hoping I could get a couple of diggs from some of the WF crew I've helped out other people on here when they've had things like the ap courses, and what not, was just hoping I could get some to return the favor. If it makes it easier there are no affiliate links or anything in the post it really is just a gripe about getting dicked around and I wanted to get it dugg cause I'm sending them a letter about it too.

</end beg and rant>

OK dude, you've been dugg. Good luck but when I read the rain check policy on your blog, it looks to me like they leave the RC policy up to the individual stores. The operative word in the policy was "may" and there was a way to find a store that gives rain checks.

Any time I'm not happy with the answer I get from a floor clerk (which is most of the time) I search out the dept. manager and, if I don't get what I want from him, I find the store manager. Sounds like you rolled over too easy.

A good line of BS will sometimes work on the top guy about how you've been a steady customer for so many years and really hate to have to take your biz somewhere else over a silly little thing like this and how much a little consideration would really be appreciated and how you'll NEVER tell a soul and will buy ALL you future big ticket things at that store, etc., etc.

The store managers are more in tune with the whole "lifetime value" thing and they're the ones who make the rules anyway. They've usually got so many other things going on, they'll grab the first employee they can find and have them take care of you just so they can get you off their back.

Failing that, why don't you try the buy online, pick up at a store option? $300 might be worth a road trip if you really want that particular TV.

Yeah your probably right on the road trip. I might end up doing it. It was more about how upset I was with just the lame way they dealt with the situation and not to mention it was a sweet deal. But regardless you'd think they'd handle things better. And yeah I see where your pointing out the may vs. will in the rain check policy. I'll talk to the wife, maybe we'll head out to Vegas or something. :-)

Thanx for the digg.

dugg! I learnt something too - never heard the phrase "rain check" used in that context before!

(two nations divided by a common language!)

Dude, sorry to be a hater but in short- it sucks to be you. You should've been outside the door the morning that the sale went live. There's a reason why they were having a sale on that item... because they wanted to CLEAR THEIR INVENTORY of that inventory.

The only place that rain checks really work are grocery stores.

I've had a 'pending' application in with Sears' Performics affiliate program for 3 months...

Seriously though this wasn't the PS3 or something like that. I realize that it was a sweet deal. But it wasn't some limited quantity thing that they just had a couple of them. And I called the store beforehand and he said he had only sold one that week. So it wasn't like I thought they were flying off the shelves. I do see your point though. But if they have a rain check policy like their site says they do why wouldn't they honor it? I mean follow through with the things that you say that you do, otherwise ditch the policy. I mean its on their site, they should be honoring their own policies. If they didn't have a rain check policy like their site claims they do I wouldn't have even cared as much.

Don't bother with their affiliate program. From my understanding you can't directly promote products on the Sears main site, only some of their smaller niche sites, which are littered with links to the main site that you don't get a commission on. Its not worth the leak in commissions imo.
